Mirror Hypnotherapy is a compassionate, safe and insightful space in the beautiful community of Wynnum, Qld. I help people heal, release what holds them back, and move when they feel stuck.

I see people who are stressed, hurt, anxious or overwhelmed, and provide healing hypnotherapy sessions, with elements of psychotherapy, counselling and trauma-informed techniques - leaving them feeling hopeful, positive and relieved of old pain.

When I reflect a person’s subconscious state back to them, they find the point of change. Through looking honestly at what is truly going on, they are able to move in a different direction.

I truly believe everyone can find relief and healing in their own way through exploring the self. I love sharing healing tools and information that empowers.

I have done this work for myself and understand how it feels. I combine professional training with real-life experience to guide others with depth and compassion.

Mirror hypnotherapy

Find the reflection of a better you

After setting some appropriate goals for your therapy, we shift old energy and beliefs before beginning hypnotherapy itself. You relax in the comfortable armchair while I guide you on a safe and magical journey with my voice. You may have new insights, see different perspectives, heal old wounds or unburden yourself of unwanted aspects. You are in control at all times and will go home feeling deeply rested with fresh momentum and new inner resources.

Sessions are available online if you can’t get to the clinic, but face to face is the ideal.

The process

Clients always leave feeling lighter, brighter and more rested. Hypnotherapy is not an easy process when old emotions come up, but it is gentle and flexible, and the experiences in the chair are often incredibly soothing and nourishing. You will create the changes you want to, and are ready for, each session; feeling closer each time to the you that you want to see in the mirror.

Hypnotherapy works best for clients that are really ready for change, and willing to engage and shift.

The outcome

My practice is at the wonderful and welcoming Wynnum Chiropractic clinic, Florence St, Brisbane.

My face-to-face sessions are $150 for 60 minutes.

I also offer free 20-minute discovery calls, so you can talk me through your goals and I can tell you the ways I can help you, before you decide to book with me. No pressure.

What happens in a session?

We talk through your goals and your client information sheet, and get clear on what we are trying to achieve.

We may do some healing energy shifting processes using your powerful subconscious mind, some deep breathing or other things to bring the body into a state of calm.

You relax in the armchair as I guide you into a state of deep relaxation using my voice, taking you on magical journeys to beautiful places.

Once you are deeply relaxed, I work with your subconscious mind clearing the negative aspects you don’t want, creating new internal experiences and giving powerful positive suggestions that create the desired changes.

How do I know I can go into a state of trance?

Every human can go into a state or trance or deep relaxation. Think daydreaming or “zoning out”. I’ve posted some excellent information below from ChatGPT about what the state of hypnosis or trance actually is., and what it isn’t.

Sometimes people struggle to relax because they generally live in a heightened nervous system state, they don’t trust the practitioner, or they are scared of not being in control.

I address these normal concerns by creating a safe, accepting and nurturing situation where the client knows they are always in control, and induce trance using techniques that work best for their current mental and emotional state.

A hypnosis “trance” isn’t a mysterious shutdown of the mind—it’s a specific, measurable shift in attention, awareness, and brain activity. You’re not unconscious or controlled; you’re in a deeply focused, absorbed state where suggestions can have more impact.

Here’s what’s going on:

What happens in the mind

1. Narrowed, absorbed attention

Your focus becomes highly selective — similar to: being lost in a movie, aydreaming, or driving on autopilot. The brain reduces awareness of irrelevant stimuli, which is why people feel “zoned in.”

2. Reduced critical filtering

Activity in areas linked to self-monitoring and skepticism (like parts of the prefrontal cortex) decreases. That means: you’re less analytical; more open to suggestion; but still in control — you won’t act against your values

3. Increased imagination + suggestibility

The brain treats imagined experiences like real ones: visualisations feel vivid; suggested sensations (warmth, heaviness) can feel physical; and this is why hypnotherapy can influence pain or habits

4. Altered sense of self and time

Time may feel faster or slower. The boundary between “thinking” and “experiencing” blurs. Some people feel detached; others feel deeply present.

What happens in the body

1. Deep relaxation response

The parasympathetic nervous system becomes dominant: heart rate slows; breathing becomes steady; muscles relax; and stress hormones decrease.

This is similar to meditation or early sleep stages.

2. Reduced pain perception

Hypnosis can change how the brain processes pain signals. It’s not just distraction — it alters pain interpretation pathways. It has been used clinically for chronic pain and procedures.

3. Increased mind–body responsiveness

Suggestions can influence: skin temperature, muscle tension, and even immune-related responses and other bodily processes.

Brainwaves during hypnosis

Brainwaves don’t switch to just one type — they shift toward patterns seen in relaxed, inward-focused states:

🟢 Alpha waves (8–12 Hz)

  • Relaxed, calm, awake.

  • Common in light hypnosis.

  • Same as early meditation.

🔵 Theta waves (4–8 Hz)

  • Deep relaxation, imagery, memory access.

  • Strongly associated with hypnotic trance.

  • Also seen in REM sleep and deep meditation.

🟣 Gamma and beta (still present)

  • Some higher-frequency activity remains for:

    • Awareness.

    • Processing suggestions.

So hypnosis is not sleep—it’s a hybrid state:

  • Body: deeply relaxed.

  • Mind: focused and responsive.

What brain scans show:

Neuroscience studies (fMRI, EEG) suggest: changes in connectivity between attention networks and default mode network (self-reflection). Reduced activity in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (linked to conflict monitoring), and increased coordination between mind and sensory areas.

🧭 A simple way to think about it

Hypnosis is like:

“Turning down the noise of the outside world and turning up the volume of the inner experience.”
